This guide lists all 31 incorporated municipalities in Broward County, ranked by their April 1, 2025 population estimates. It includes cities, towns, and villages, and explains why a mailing address may differ from the municipality that provides local services.

Broward County Cities by Population

Fort Lauderdale has the largest estimated population, followed by Pembroke Pines and Hollywood. The figures below are population estimates, not census counts or projections for 2026.

Why Towns and Villages Appear on the List

Although people often search for “cities in Broward County,” not every incorporated municipality is designated a city. Davie, Southwest Ranches, Pembroke Park, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, and Hillsboro Beach are towns. Sea Ranch Lakes and Lazy Lake are villages. All belong on a complete list of the county’s incorporated municipalities.

Finding the Municipality for an Address

If you need a local service, check the municipality for the specific street address before contacting an office. A mailing city does not always identify the local government responsible for permits, code issues, or other municipal services. Some Broward County addresses are in unincorporated areas and therefore do not fall within any of the 31 municipalities in the table.

For a property near a municipal boundary, check its location against the boundary maps available through the Broward County GeoHub. A neighborhood name or nearby city may not identify the correct office.

These figures estimate the resident population as of April 1, 2025; they do not include temporary visitors. When comparing figures from another source, check the reference date and how that source defines its population.
